It is not possible to make a detailed list of all the historical events, fairs and markets, you just need to come and visit us; you can also follow one of the itineraries suggested by the Strada del Vino Astesana (www.astesana-stradadelvino.it)
Astis typical cuisine gives its best from September to December, when you can taste the famous white truffle.
But all year long you can enjoy excellent dishes like minced raw beef, anchovies with green sauce, Salami, insalata russa (mixed cooked vegetables diced with mayonnaise), stuffed baked peppers, veal in tuna sauce, agnolotti ( Piemontese stuffed pasta) tagliolini (a delicate egg-based pasta), fritto misto ( mixed fried food, meat, fruits, chocolate, amaretto etc.), bollito misto (boiled meat served with home made sauce), Zabaione (a delicate, liquid custard made from eggs and wine), Bunet ( a traditional chocolate pudding from Piedmont, flavoured with amaretti and coffee), Nougat and Amaretti.
As you can see we have a lot of meat dishes, since the cattle-breeding is now really widespread.
Not to forget the small farms producing salami, vegetables, honey, bread or cakes in the most traditional way.
You will find great restaurants with their delicious cuisine, together with excellent local wines, or wineries as well, where you can taste and enjoy a glass of good wine.
